This ‘Laundry Lines’-idea first sprung to me, when canoeing with my dad in the Wieden, the Netherlands. The little town Giethoorn, known as Dutch Venice, exists of water ways.. Some towns in the neighbourhood too! Lots of water. Some people can only reach their house by boat! That’s just awesome!
We canoed past some houses with white laundry fluttering in the wind. It was such a Dutch, yet universal sight! When learning about photography, one of the things I learned, is trying to find similarity between cultures. Don’t just focus on the differences, but focus on what is similar as well. Thus the idea of this series, started to grow in my mind.
Almost everybody wears clothes, most people also wash their clothes ;)! I sometimes do! We have a spare room in our house which we use as ‘the laundry room’. In the spring, summer and autumn, when weather allows it, the drying happens in to the outdoors.
When in puberty I hated hanging clothes. Especially hanging it outside. I got a little bit nauseas from the lines haha! In the summer sometimes it would start pouring rain. We didn’t always see it coming, so we had to run for it! Me, my mum, my dad, my siblings, we all ran for it.

I’ve viewed all I can of your work, and believe you are a true, and great, photographer. Your bicycle-riding fruit-vendor series, looking downward to display their colors and designs, are phenomenal. You look and you see with the artist’s eye, mind and heart! Thank you
